Jay Kavanagh, OD

Dr. Kavanagh graduated in 1990 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, then attended Southern College of Optometry where he completed his Doctorate in Optometry in 1994. He moved to Nashville after completing an externship at the Omni in Denver, a referral clinic for rare and complicated ophthalmologic cases. Dr. Kavanagh opened his first independent optometry practice in Nashville at the Rivergate Wal Mart in October of 1999. He added the West Nashville location in 2005, and the East Nashville location in 2010. Following the Covid pandemic, Dr. Kavanagh sold the Rivergate practice and kept the other two. Jay enjoys building things, writing & playing music, and loves his rescue dog, kids, grandbabies, and wife (in no particular order.)         All locations are independently owned and operated.
